WWF In Your House: Badd Blood was the site of the very first ever "Hell in a Cell" match on October 5, 1997. Neither the 21,151 fans that jam packed the Kiel Center in St. Louis that night, nor the millions watching around the world on pay per view knew what to expect. In the weeks leading up to this match, they showed clips of the building of this "cell". Fans knew that it was going to be a brutal match. This match would finally put an end to the Michaels/Undertaker feud which started when Shawn cost Undertaker the WWF Championship at SummerSlam '97 as the guest referee in the Undertaker/Bret Hart match. After a bitter 2 month feud, the score would be settled and the winner of "Hell In A Cell" would go on to get a title shot at the next months pay per view, Survivor Series. The match itself was great. So many highpoints that you cannot just talk about one. You have to see this match to get the full picture of it. It was brutal, theres no doubt about that. Before the match in a backstage interview, Shawn Michaels even proclaimed "Ain't nobody crazy 'nuff to do this gig, 'cept for the Heartbreak Kid!" The ending to this match is what will probably be remembered most though as Kane made his first WWF appearance after months and months of hype. He came to the ring and tombstoned his 'brother' the Undertaker and left as a battered and bloody Shawn Michaels crawled over to make the cover and gain the win. Shawn Michaels was victorious in the first ever, and very memorable, "Hell In A Cell" match.
