Born an Arizonian, Shawn Michaels was the youngest of four kids. At two months of age, Shawn's family moved to England. When Shawn's Dad was sent to Vietnam, Shawn, and his family moved to his mother's hometown, Storm Lake, Iowa. After living in Iowa, Shawn's family moved to Maryland, where he attended Randolph High School. During his high school years, Shawn was the captain of his football team. After high school, Shawn moved to Texas, where he attended the Southwest Texas University. During his University years, Shawn realized that he wanted to become a professional wrestler. So, Shawn set off to pursue a wrestling career.
Leaving San Antonio Texas, Shawn first went to Kansas City, where he met Marty Janetty. Having a lot in common, Shawn and Marty decided to form a tag-team known as the "Midnight Rockers". Wrestling in the AWA, Shawn and Marty knew their wrestling career was going nowhere, until the day the WWF called and offered the Midnight Rockers job. Shawn and Marty partied and were fired the next day by the WWF, because they partied too rowdily. The WWF called again and gave them a second chance, and in Summerslam of '89, The Rockers debuted!!
The Rockers, now one of the most popular tag-teams, were an ultimate team. With their high-flying maneuvers, and their teamwork, the Rockers were climbing their way to the top. Then problems between the duos began to arise. In the Survivor Series of '91, Marty caused Shawn to be eliminated, which foreshadowed a break-up. Also, in a singles match between Shawn and Ric Flair, Flair threw Shawn out of the ring and Marty threw Shawn back in, which in turn, caused Shawn to be pinned. There were numerous occasions and reasons for the split of the Rockers, one of which was there was no tag-team title for the Rockers. The Rockers officially split on the "Barbershop", when Michaels threw Janetty into a glass window. Shawn had now started a singles career and had gotten a new look, a new gimmick, a new attitude and a new manager, The Sensational Sherri.
With the Sensational one, Michaels one the IC belt by defeating the British Bulldog, in a "Saturday Nights Main Event". In the spring of '93, Michaels lost the belt to Janetty and separated for Sherri. Shawn now got a new bodyguard, Diesel, and formed a tag-team called "Dudes with Attitudes". Diesel helped Michaels win back his IC belt and also win the tag-team belt. From '93 through '97, Michaels separated with Diesel, brought in another bodyguard, Sid, won his third IC title, two Tag-Team titles (with Diesel), posed nude in Playgirl and won the WWF Championship belt. At the age of 32, Shawn was the third wrestler to ever hold all three titles (Pedro Morales was the first and the second was Bret Hart.)
Lately, Shawn has joined forces with long-time friend HHH and the amazonian Chyna. Now known has the Degeneration-X (DX), Shawn is now the arguably most popular and most hated wrestler in the WWF. After losing his belt to Austin at Wrestlemania 98', Shawn took a leave of absence but returned a year later and became The Head-Commissioner. When the very first Smackdown aired on UPN, Shawn Michaels was there and double-crossed The Rock which lead him to losing the chance of becoming the WWF Champion that night. Within the past year, Michaels, once again, returned to the ring not as the commissioner, but as the official Spokes-Person of the WWF. Will he come back to wrestle? Only time will tell…
