Tina's TributeMay 1, 2006
How can anyone put into words what one of the most important people in their lives means to them? Elizabeth Hulette was more than just a role model or a 'sexy valet' to me. She was a way of life to me and still is to this day. She was not only the first lady of professional wrestling, but she was so much more. She had self pride, values and class that nobody back then or today will ever be able to top. She was never a follower, but a true leader from the beginning. She always stood up for what she believed in, and always stood by her man when it was needed. She was a virtue of beauty and grace in the wrestling world, and though she is gone, her legacy will live on forever, simply because she was what brought women into the professional world of wrestling. I'm sure she never realized how many fans she had or what she meant to them. The day I met Elizabeth I was star struck. Not only was the woman standing in front of me the woman that I had loved for so many years and had looked up to, but there was also the kindest, graceful, most beautiful human being in the world. She took her time while talking to me and kept a smile on her face, and was even laughing when my Grandfather told her what a beautiful woman she was. She told me something that stays with me to this day, and I can still hear her voice saying it. "I am just me, and that's what I live to be". That is after I had gushed on and on about how she was a huge influence on my life and that she had always stayed true to herself. That is a motto that I try to now live my life by. When I met her I was going through the worst time of my life, my best friend had just committed suicide, and I had gained about 50 pounds. After talking with Elizabeth for the short 10 minutes I did, she honestly gave me the strength to find myself again. I owe so much to her. I always said that my first daughter would be named Elizabeth, so on September 2, 2005 when I had my first daughter, I lived up to that. I named her not only after an amazing woman, but what she instilled in me, and all of her values. I can only hope I can raise my daughter to be as gracious and as beautiful as Elizabeth Hulette was. While Elizabeth is no longer here, I will have a constant reminder of her for every day of the rest of my life - my daughter. Since the day she was born I have thought of Elizabeth every day just by saying my daughters name, and it always makes me smile.
So to Elizabeth - thank you.Thank you for being an inspiration in my life.Thank you for being such an amazing role model. Thank you for making my childhood have so many great memories.
