Interview with Beth Phoenix

JM: How did you get into wrestling?

P: I have been an avid wrestling fan since I can remember. From the days of Hogan, Piper, Bruno and Snuka to sports entertainment I've been there buying' tickets and dreaming' of the day it would be my turn to step into the squared circle. I joined the amateur wrestling team in high school to toughen myself up and learn the coordination and grace of wrestling. After a few years competing, I decided it was time and signed up at the USWF wrestling school to be trained by Hart Dungeon Graduates, the All Knighters. From that point on, I have been paying' my dues, training hard, drinking' my milk and taking' my vitamins.

JM: What is the one thing you want to accomplish in the biz?

P: I want to be in the WWE. That has been my motivation since day 1. Every step I take is a step towards my goal.

JM:What is the greatest highlight Of your career?

P: There are many memorable moments for me but one of the best thus far would be wrestling Japanese superstar Sumie Sakai. That match took me to the limits and I learned a new respect for pain in the ring.

JM: Do you see yourself in the WWE in the future?

P: That is all I see.

JM: What is the most painful experience you had to go through in the Business

P: The emotional pain of having certain people betray me. It made me realize that there are very few people I can trust and those that I can trust, I treasure.

JM: If there was anything you can change about wrestling today what would it be?

P: I would've outlawed the "descend from the ceiling stunt" in 1999.

JM: Who do you admire in the business?

P: I greatly admire Molly Holly. She is one of the great wrestling theorists of our time. I hope to be as knowledgeable as her one day. I also admired Owen Hart for his wrestling prowess and always entertaining personality.

JM: If you can, can you comment each individual woman of the WWE

Stephanie McMahon - best female character on the microphone in the business

Jacquelyn - tough veteran kicks ass

Terri - long time sex symbol...does it well

Molly Holly - like I said before, best female wrestler around

Ivory - excellent worker with tremendous concept of theory (also great promos)

Lita - brought back women's wrestling from T&A purgatory

Trish Stratus - testament to hard work; total package

Victoria - WWE's best investment as of late...I believe she has only begun to impress

Stacy Kiebler - she's got legs and the attention of every male wrestling fan on the planet

Torrie Wilson - coming along

Nidia - I dig the character. She's got a head for the business

Jazz - Intensity Intensity Intensity. No woman has got it like Jazz

Dawn Marie - One of the nicest people I've ever met.

JM: What is the best part of your matches?

P: A lot of people have told me it is my character and personality...but I personally like my chops because they hurt....they hurt bad.

JM: What advice would you give to young Female Fans who dream to get into the biz?

P: Don't go half-assed. If you want to do this, just do it. Half way will only get you hurt. And when you do finally step foot in front of a crowd...be it in front of 10 people or 10,000 people, know that you have a responsibility to those who came before you. Give it all you've got or you disrespect myself and all those who live eat sleep and breathe wrestling.
