More and more these days, I come across gyms that offer Yoga, Tai Chi, or some other form of meditation. Sometimes, in the bookstore, I'll pass the religion section and see books on these subjects as well. These are new age practices being used again.

What also amazes me is the number of people I see wearing charms like the Yin-Yang, a unicorns horn, or a crystal and they don't even know what it means.

These things may seem fairly new, and may sometimes be referred to as New Age, but often they have roots in ancient religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, or Taoism.

The class project now taking shape on this page, will discuss some of these practices and symbols, and show you their origins. I also plan on including the Harry Potter book series somewhere on these pages.
