tomorrow's missing links today

Darwin cited as evidence of evolution structures we would now term “vestigial.” These are rudements that seem to serve no present function but that resemble more fully developed, functioning organs in other animals. Some examples are striking. The poorly developed pelvic bones and hind limbs of certain snakes do not fit the animals basic body plan, but can easily be acounted for as vestiges of ancestoral organs not yet fully lost through evolution. The same argument can be applied to the pelvic bones of whales.

The subject of vestigial organs is carefully avoided by creationists. And for good reason. If God were to create all animals at once, and in their fully-formed modern state, why did he bestow on them useless bones?
