I live in California and am located in Taft, near Bakersfield.
That's about 125 miles north of Los Angeles.
My town is small with a population of approx. 18,000.
A 30 minute drive will get you to all the shopping of the "big"
city and I can come home to quiet at night.
We are also within two hours of the beach, mountains,
and several lakes. This is handy for our traveling needs.
