	Desde el siglo pasado comienza a generalizarse en Rojales un tipo de vivienda que se adentraba en las entrañas de la tierra en busca de hogar. Actualmente perduran cuatro barrios de casas-cueva que se emplazan en los flancos de varios cerros que delimitan el pueblo por el sur y proporcionan a Rojales un casco antiguo irremplazable y, sin duda, de los más singulares de la Comunidad Valenciana.
