Advanced Mod Guide for Dummies what is considered a “advanced mod” how do you change level warps? how do you make new prefix and suffix? how do you change a npcs gfx? stuff you have to know, that I assume you
already know. where can I reach you? 1. what is a
“advanced mod” a advanced mod
is a term that I actually cannot categorize, some might say making new
items is such a mod, then well I added about 70 items for the first XyRAX version
in a half hour and that wasn’t so hard, what I call a advanced mod is a mod that
involves editing of stuff that you wouldn’t normally like level warps, or
adding new monsters, all the stuff that until now there was no tutorial on
“how to do it”, another thing that does NOT go in here is hacking .dlls since: a
mod is not categorizes as a hack at all! 2. how do you
change level warps? This is a
really common question that in most cases was not answered by any one, now there is a
answer!!! You will need
only one file for this, levels.txt (a brief explanation and guide for this can be
found on my homepage, www.nefariusdx2000.homestead.com ). The ONLY columns
you will need to edit here are the vis0-vis7 columns, lets make the bloodmoor go to
catacombs 4 and catacombs 3 go to the den of evil, I usually take the entire
row and paste it in a clean new file in my spreadsheet now I delete all
other columns except the vis0-vis7, ID and name column, you can do it like me or edit
it in the original levels.txt I just think my method is better since u get
better overview. Now look at the below carefully I think if u read the advanced

sure that all the involved areas are edited you cannot have a area with 2 other
areas linking to it if it has only one entrance! For those that
still don’t get it: you must over right the old warps with the id number of the
place u want to lets say here “link” to I wanted the bloodmoor to go to catacomb
4 so I over righted all the 8s in its vis columns with 37 the idea number of
catacomb 4. 3. how do you ad
new prefix and suffix? This is way
easier then any other thing here, you will need magicprefix or magicsuffix.txt,
now find a prefix you would what to clone since its much faster if u only
copy/paste as new row. After you have done this(don’t worry to ad a new row just be
careful like in the items texts NOT to replace the first row. First enter the
name of the prefix in the first column and right it down carefully since
capital letters must match the later entry of the new code in string.tbl,
note also caps are considered other letters then small ones!!! Now after this is
done go to third column and change the required level, this does control pretty
much stuff, the level you can gamble that prefix/suffix or the level you can
use it or also the level a monster or object can drop it. Now go to the second
column called spawnable and make sure it is set to 1(there are several unused
prefix and suffix that you can re activate this way). Now after you did this,
make the nummods column match the number of proportions of the new prefix(up to
3). Next change the mod1code column into a specific code of the magical
proportion you want a full list of this can be found here, www.phrozenkeep.com , do not change
the next column the offset columns in many files should be
left alone even I think the have no function, like the beta column. Mod1min
and mod1max are there to control the min max of the possible prefix like
1-1000 to life I never tried to find the max possible here play around also know
that +all skills and some others will not work on regular magic prefix/suffix
only unique and sets. Next go to the transformcolor column and ad the number of
the color u want here, this will make this item look, blue, red etc, now set
the armor, weapon, gloves etc columns to 1 if u want it to be possible on
that item class or 0 if not. Now after u ad it to string.tbl all is done. 4. how to change
npc gfx? Another really
easy thing that many people think that it is to hard and therefore its
in here. For this file
you will ONLY need montype.txt find the npcs row you wand to change in here
and next look at the second column in this row its called token replace this
token with whatever monsters token u want, be aware that this does not always work
some npcs will not be able to be switched so easily some will be able to be
replaced with every thing. 5. stuff you
have to know, that I assume you already know mods are not
considered cheating even some people might say so, according to blizzard
entertainment(the creators of Diablo ii) its ok to make mods as long as you don’t mess
with the copyright and the enduser agreement, but this may not be so for other
games, so I advise you make mods only if you don’t get in trouble from it!!! Also
mods may not be sold for profit of any kind all mods must be freeware if you
want money for mods make your own game and don’t mess with other games!!! Also I
