interview with hauk of arvinger a viking black metal band

1. how did arvinger start? Hauk: I made the first Arvinger songs back in 2001 after my friend Djerv asked me if we could record some songs together. We then recorded 5 songs. We were actually going to release a demo, but nothing happened. A year later I recorded an instrumental track and in the summer of 2002 we decided to let go of the songs, we uploaded them to the internet. After alot of positive feedback we decided to write 3 more songs and release all songs on a promo/demo album. In february 2003 we released the album , Helgards Fall. 2.how do your family and friends feel about your music? Hauk: Well, I don't think my family got any interest in this what so ever. Some friends enjoy it as they also like metal, but our non-metal friends don't care to much about it, i guess. 3.do you love the cold , how is your life in norway, what is it like there? Hauk: Well, the winter is ok, but I think most of us like the summer more than the winter. As kids it's always fun with snowand ice, but now I don't care to much about it. Like this winter which I lived in Brazil. But besides the cold, this country is really great. If I'm not mistaken I think UN voted Norway as the worlds' best country to live in now. But alot of people still complain, can you imagine that? But as long as we don't join the EU(European Union), I surely won't complain, hehe... 4.what is the christian symphonic blackmetal scene in norway and northern europe like? Hauk: It's small, but I think the quality is getting better and better. I'd rather have a few really good bands around than tons of bands that sucks... 5.what do you want from your band arvinger and what is your goal with it? Hauk: We wan't to continue writing songs and release albums until we have reached our maximum potensial. I think we'll specialize in this genre so called Viking Metal. We're defenetly moving in that direction now... 6.how do you feel about music lighter than blackmetal like hardcore ? Hauk: I listen to any kind of music as long as I think it's good within it's genre. I think every genre has it's purpose. It's all about what kind of "moods" each genre represent. As different music is used within a film to create different fealings. 7.what do you like better the winter or the summer and why? Hauk: Summer. 8.what do you want to do 10 years from now and what do you hink your band will be then? Wow, 10 years from now. Things change so fast, I can't tell. I'm not a prophet. But I hope I'm able to make a living out of my interest in music, multimedia and sound recording. Anyway, we will have released our upcoming album by then, so stay tuned....
