GORGEOUS - Description: GORGEOUS are a seven piece. Some of the band are very young and at least two are ,(whisper), *in their thirties*. GORGEOUS don't subscribe to the obvious entrapments of hardcore, in that they are wilfully commercial with the music yet are probably, lyrically, the most subversive band in the UK. GORGEOUS do everything for themselves and don't give a flying fuck about what anyone thinks them. GORGEOUS do not heed advice and pour scorn on anyone who tries to do so. (This is the band who had the wheels off one hapless A&R person's car @ the Flapper). Bastards? Yes, but loveable ones. GORGEOUS don't pretend to have any answers, just observations designed to provoke thought. This is assuming people want to have their thoughts provoked beyond the inanity of easy posturing and sloganeering. HOT TORTOISE , THE - Description: Crazy stuff from Dr Alan Zimbabwe, Wizzzard and Satan Thunderfoot: post-hardcore noise with green wooly hats. In December of 1996 on a small beach on the wind-swept coast of Birmingham, an abomonation was born. The toxic wastes of the city had permeated the sands and infected the eggs that lay there. MY DARLING NI~HILIST - Description: Another hard working Rugby band, MDN are more songwriting than genre led, their strengths lying in song structure and lyrical content. However, when in doubt the band favour a Fugazi orientated feel with a punky edge.
