MxPx(Magnified Plaid)- Pokinatcha

this is mxpx's first album, and still one of my favorites. i was a 15.year.old high school sophomore that really like green day, bad religion, and the circle jerks. i remember getting this cd and popping it in and thinking that it sounded just like green day, who was my favorite band at the time, except these guys actually shared my beliefs and hopes. i can probably say... in all honesty... that listening to this cd made me realize that i belonged somewhere. from the first time i heard _anywhere but here_ i was a huge fan... and i am to this day.
now that i listen back to this cd... it doesn't sound a thing like green day... but more like late 60's garage punk... and that's more than good enough for me. (produced by poor old lou's guitarist aaron sprinkle)

MxPx- Teenage Politics

a breakthrough album, as far as christian punk is concerned... and even as far as 90's poppunk is concerned. spawned hits like delores... teenage politics... and the anthematic punk rock show. as a side note... it is also available in clear/blue vinyl with the extended mix of _want ad_ as a second bonus track.
this album sold 30,000 copies in it's first several months of being released... one/third of that in southern california alone... and probably one/thirty-thousandth of them were sold in beaumont.tx...

MxPx - On The Cover

mxpx continued to break ground by releasing a covers album featuring bands that were hardly punk at all. from bryan adams to buddy holly to joy electric... mxpx gave their adrenal poppunk injections to 8 classic songs... more if you have the double gate-fold 10" like me. the cassette, cd and vinyl all have different artwork as well.

MxPx- Move To Bremerton E.P.

being the poor... teen... punk-rocker that i was... i bought the five_dollar single by the boys prior to purchasing life in general. all of the songs were amazing. it.s got mushy pop... hard rock... and even an acoustic track. it made the wait to get life in general even harder... introduced me and my friends to chick magnet... which... in all honesty is almost an annoying song when i listen to it now.

MxPx - Life In General

life in general is the album that launched mxpx from underground... christian obscurity into mainstream exposure and exceptance. spawning favorites like andrea... do your feet hurt... chick magnet... move to bremerton... doing time and tons of others. some consider this to be their best. i just consider this to be a good... solid poppunk album. the best was yet to come...

MxPx- Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo

with all of the hype surrounding this fledgling punk band from washington around the success of life in general and it's mtv_friendly single _chick magnet_ mxpx got shipped off to a major label and... as can be expected... they stepped up to the challenge.
buffalo heralded a new sense of maturity in the band... both musically and lyrically. sticking with their producer steve kravac... mxpx came out of the studio with an album that had several catchy poppy tunes and several hard punk songs keeping them rooted in their punk roots that they have stuck with since the beginning.
buffalo is the first album where mixpix openly thanked god in the back of the cd. i asked them about this at a show and they just said that they never did it before because they were in the christian industry... and tons of bands just put it there because they think that they have to and it doesn.t even mean anything. mxpx figured that it shouldn.t have been a big deal... even though fans asked them to. on buffalo... their major label debut... they gave all thanks and praise to god. and what did it change about them? NOTHING.

Pedro The Lion- The Whole E.P.

Such a turn on. Hookey, emotional, collegey, indie music that has kept me addicted since i first heard _nothing_ on the t&n rock sampler: vol. 1. a superficial friend of mine once told me that she didn't like pedro... she doesnt know what she is talking about. she is a loser. she doesnt understand that pedro is not about "catchyness"... it is a lyrically inspiring and emotional album. email "jesska" at orangemonk@aol.com and tell her that she is a gimp.

Pedro The Lion- Good Friends Are Hard To Find

this album was an amazing follow-up to pedro's first release. relocated to "made in mexico" records, pedro made what was arguably his greatest record. until "winners never quit" showed up...

Pedro The Lion- Winners Never Quit

pedro's latest and possibly greatest. in this one pedro continues his poetic songrwriting... this time mixing up his sound a little. there are bits that will make you want to dance or even mosh. songs that will make you want to sleep. and songs that will make you want to go out and start a band... knowing full-well that there may never be a musicician that can write lyrics with as much meaning as david bazaan.
