Arafat and the mid-east equation

Amazingly enough, Election ’04 went off without a hitch. This was in spite of drastic attempts by the media to tilt the odds towards the Democrats, as well as attempts by DNC officials to fabricate accusations of voter disenfranchisement by Republicans, as well as encouraging voter fraud. To be fair, there were reports of some GOP activity of a sketchy nature, but nothing as widespread as Democratic attempts to stack the deck, as it were.

Overseas, the transition of another controversial government is not going so smoothly. The Palestinian Authority (PA) in the middle east, formed from aging members of the Palestinian Liberation Organization terrorist group, is in a spastic fit over the fate of it’s 70-odd-year-old leader, Yassar Arafat. Arafat, known as the “father of modern terrorism”, has a long and bloody career that goes beyond the suicide bombings he recently masterminded from his mid-east compound. In the early 1980s, the civilian ship the Achille Lauto was hijacked and a crippled American in a wheelchair rolled over the side to his death. Arafat’s minions were responsible. The assassination of an American ambassador in the mid-east a few decades ago was Arafat’s work as well.

The media described how Arafat, thought to either have a cancer or a rare blood ailment, was airlifted to a military hospital outside Paris where he received the best treatment to be offered by the western civilization he sought for so long to destroy. There has been suspicion he has died – denied by the French responsible for his care – and suspicions he may have been poisoned. But by and large the focus is on his ailing health and concern (!) for his well-being. A 11/5/04 article on the front page of the Star-Ledger, a major NJ newspaper, quoted a Palestinian (presumably in France) as saying that the possible death of Arafat “tears your heart”.

Actually, what tears the heart is to see people in civilized western countries and locations [like New Jersey] fawning over an elderly monster with blood on his hands. Suspicions that Arafat was poisoned may be well founded; in a dictatorship the leader is often done in by a power struggle. It would be a boon for the middle east if he was poisoned by one of his own who realized that his terrorism was as bad, in the long run, for Arabs as Israelis. Indeed, many “suicide bombings” are lately killing as many Arabs as Israelis, to say nothing of justified Israeli retaliation. And even though the west foolishly coddles them, most observant citizens recognize that the so-called Palestinians as a terrorist state. A “Palestinian” who decided to act to remove this monster that has created a national identity of terrorism and racism among “his people” would be a true act of bravery, and help both Israel and the so-called Palestinians themselves. But the likelihood is that if Arafat was poisoned, it was likely by someone else who wanted his power. Such are things in a state run by the fist [or the suicide bomb kit].

If Arafat was not poisoned, but is simply ill, it is an outrage. It is an outrage that this murderer be allowed to live to his ripe old age and die of natural causes surrounded by legions of followers – whilst his minions continue building bombs and attacking civilians via terrorism.

What would happen in a non-Arafat PA? It is possible that even more extremist factions could take over. Arafat has indeed been criticized for not being violent enough towards Israel and the west. Given the violence by Arafat's minions, former PLO thugs, and proxies such as the Al-Aqsa brigades, one can only wonder -- and flinch -- at the thought that this aging arch-enemy of civilization might actually represent "moderate" Palestinian terror. But that is a real risk; if Arafat dies, the terror will likely be revived after a period of infighting, worse than before. However, this is not to say that Arafat's demise is not a good thing for civilization. The removal of this violent terrorist mastermind from the earthly plane would be as desireable as the removal of Bin Laden. That there is a risk another terrorist would take his place does not mean his passing would be a win for civilization and a loss for terror. And that risk can be taken care of by removing not only arafat, but all his fellow terrorists. Yet, to this day America -- even whilst in the middle of "our war on terror" -- given funding to these murderers.

One would hope, however , that if Arafat dies the "Palestinians" would realize the true vile nature of his terrorist tactics and try to adopt a peaceful existence. But it won’t happen. It won’t happen because they do not have the philosophical underpinnings upon which to base a free and peaceful society. Their entire culture is anti-Israel violence. Their entire national identity was created as an antithesis to Israel. Prior to the creation of Israel, there was no concept of “Palestinians” as a nation identity. As to their desire for their own country, it is based on racist refusal to live amongst non-Arabs.

Terrorism, reactionism, and racial collectivism are incapable of resulting in a “peaceful” or prosperous nation. Terrorism is the logical result of this deadly political equation.

It will take more than the death of Arafat to change that. But the change won’t even begin while the west still ignores the fundamental reality of this fundamentally evil man.
