My full name is Amanda Brooke Walker, born January 22, 1981 at 8:12 a.m. to Richard and Cindy Walker at Mary Black Memorial Hospital in Spartanburg, SC. I was an only child until just before I turned 3 with the birth of my brother Jordan. We lived in Cowpens, SC until I was 4; in August of 1985, we moved to Clover, SC, and we've been here ever since. Although I've lived in the country most of my life, I don't consider myself a country girl; in fact, I love nearby Charlotte, NC so much, I am very much the city girl. :o)

I attended Bethany Elementary School from K-4, then Clover Middle from 5-6, and Clover Jr. High for 7th grade. After that, my parents decided to homeschool my brother and me. That was a great experience for me; I feel that I learned so much more than I would have in public school (at least, public school in Clover). I don't regret homeschooling, and since my SAT score was 1210, I was offered numerous academic scholarships from several colleges and currently have a 3.57 GPA and am on the Dean's List at Winthrop University, I feel that I didn't suffer academically because of this decision.

My family was blessed in 1997 with the birth of my sister Leah, who has been such an incredible addition to our family. Some may think it's odd to have such a big age gap between us but I think it makes our relationship all the more special. To see a picture of Leah, click here.

My hobbies include writing (poetry, short stories, and songs), cooking, reading, working as secretary of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) at Winthrop, going shopping, and hanging out at Starbucks.

As far as academics go, I was a bit of a nerd in school... yeah, always making the honor roll, straight A student through high school. I'm doing well at Winthrop so far (as I mentioned earlier), and I'm looking forward to my second semester there. My major is integrated marketing communications, which will prepare me to go into advertising, and my minor is psychology. I was never much into sports... however, I do love playing baseball in the backyard with my brother.

Well, that's about it for now... I'll add additional info along the way. :o)
