Britney Spears has defied animal rights campaigners by appearing on stage with a live tiger and a snake at MTV's annual Video Music Awards.
She wrapped the snake around herself as she performed her new single.
Her choreographer Wade Robson defended the routine.
He said: "There was no mistreatment of any animals. They had trainers and handlers.
"She was not afraid of the tiger. But the snake freaked her out."
Campaign group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) had written to Britney asking her not to use big cats on stage.
