Britney looks like Mimi on `Drew Carey'

Katie Kot, 10, has to put up with her dad's taste in music.

I just watched the new Britney Spears video, "Overprotected," and my first thoughts were: Why is she dancing with practically no clothes on in the rain? Can't she afford a raincoat? Why are they showing so many pictures of her bellybutton? And who does her hairstyles and clothes? She wears high boots and short shorts, and she looks like a street sweeper.

She must be spending her money on something else besides clothes. Oh, I know: makeup. During the many close-ups of Britney's face, all I kept noticing was how much makeup she wears. She must be related to Mimi, the secretary on "The Drew Carey Show."

I also noticed that her lips don't match up with the words coming out of her mouth. She must be lip-syncing just like in her concerts, and you can't blame her because Shrek can sing better. In fact, the entire "Shrek" soundtrack is full of better singers from the Proclaimers and Smash Mouth. I think that's why a big part of all her videos is her dancing. I have been taking dance lessons for four years, and I would say that Britney is a better dancer than a singer.

When I first saw Britney on the Disney Channel, I didn't know anything about her music, but she seemed like a normal girl who wore clothes that fit. She was giving tours of Disney World, where she got her start singing for kids. I got her first album and I liked some of the songs. But now she acts like she is grown up. She does TV commercials and acts like a showgirl in Las Vegas.

In one of the commercials, she is in a coffee shop full of older people and all of a sudden she starts lip-syncing to them. At the end she says, "For those who think young."

So why is she trying to act older than she is? Why is she wearing that terrible wig in the commercial?

Everything about her seems fake: the hair, the makeup, the clothes, the lip-syncing. I think that's why a lot of kids I know stopped listening to her music.
