Britney Signs Movie Deal
June 18, 2002
Britney Spears has signed a deal with the
National Association of Stock Car Auto
Racing (NASCAR) to star in a feature film
about car racing.
The star made her big screen debut in "Crossroads"
earlier this year, which was met with moderate box
office success and reviews.
Britney will use her new company Britney Spears
Productions to produce the movie. She'll play the
daughter of a NASCAR team owner, who inspires a
retired driver to return to the fast sport.
NASCAR officials said yesterday Britney would not
be singing in the flick, as she did in "Crossroads"
when she played an aspiring singer.
Producer Ann Carli, who also produced
"Crossroads," says, "It is not just about winning - it's
about family, perseverance and the belief that any
dream is possible."

Britney Receives MTV Movie Award Nomination
April 27, 2002
Britney Spears has been nominated for the
2002 MTV Movie Awards "Best
Breakthrough Female Prize" for her role in
her debut film "Crossroads."
Despite the road movie being critically panned, the
singer/actress will battle Mandy Moore, Penelope
Cruz, Shannyn Sossamon and Anne Hathaway for the
gong.
Britney's official site comments, "It's not surprising
when you consider how hard Britney worked on
'Crossroads,' and that she conceived the role of Lucy
herself."

Britney's Role In 'Goldmember'
May 28, 2002
Britney Spears uses her breasts to fight off
spoof spy Austin Powers in new Mike
Myers comedy flick "Goldmember."
The singer makes a cameo appearance as herself in
the third installment of the movie series. And studio
sources have revealed that in one funny scene, Britney
attacks randy secret agent Austin - with her bulging
bosom.
Austin - played by Myers - wanders onto the set of
one of Britney's music video's and discovers she is
really a deadly "Femme Bot" robot.
In the script, Britney even jokes about real-life
rumours she has had a breast enlargement, quipping,
"It's true, my breasts have been enhanced." Her
nipples then open up to reveal machine guns, which
she fires at Myers' character.
Britney isn't the only star to make cameo appearances
in Goldmember - which hits cinema screens next
month.
Tom Cruise, Danny DeVito, Kevin Spacey, Ozzy
Osbourne and Gwyneth Paltrow also star as
themselves.
