Britney Spears, Pink continue pop feud

Popster Pink has renewed her catfight with Britney Spears by saying she wants to bed Spears' boyfriend, Justin Timberlake. So says the New York Post. Spears stormed out of her posh London hotel when she realized her rival was also staying there. Pink, 19, has described the music of 20-year-old Spears as "teeny-bopper garbage." And she picked a fight with the princess of pop in her new single, "Don't Let Me Get Me," in which she sings: "Tired of being compared to damn Britney Spears/she's so pretty, that just ain't me."

CAROL BURNETT'S DAUGHTER DIES: Actress, writer and musician Carrie Hamilton, daughter of actress Carol Burnett, died yesterday of cancer. She was 38. Hamilton appeared in the television series Fame and had guest roles on other shows, including Murder She Wrote, Beverly Hills 90210 and thirtysomething. She also starred in television movies. Hamilton spoke publicly in the '80s about her struggles with addiction.

GOOD TIME FOR SPIDEY: Tobey Maguire, leaping into action films this summer with Spider-Man, says its the right time for a superhero film set in New York, a city of real-life heroes. "I think people will be ready this summer to watch a good guy in New York who has fun and goes around and beats up the bad guys. Do superheroes still fit in? Yeah, I think so," he said. The World Trade Center was featured in a trailer that pulled after Sept. 11. But the towers remain in the skyline of Spider-Man's New York.

CAN-CON TO BERLIN: Telefilm Canada, will be doing its thing at the Berlin International Film Festival, Feb. 6 to 17. Among the films being showcased at Berlinale 2002 are Tar Angel (L'Ange de goudron) by Montrealer Denis Chouinard; Lilith On Top, a documentary by Lynne Stopkewich; Anne Wheeler's Suddenly Naked; Mariages by Catherine Martin; and Michael Snow's Corpus Collosum.

ARDEN IN CONCERT: Jann Arden, the latest pop/rock start to enlist the services of a symphony, will perform selections from her Greatest Hurts disc to orchestral accompaniment, March 14 and 15 at Massey Hall. Tickets ($32.50-$49.50) go on sale Friday at Roy Thomson Hall, 416-872-4255, and Ticketmaster, 416-870-8000.

BILLY HAPPY WITH ELTON: Billy Joel says if he'd been in a band all these years, "I would have broken up a long time ago." Now he's touring with Elton John, and couldn't be happier. "When I went with Elton, it's different than just being Billy Joel. It's Billy Joel and Elton John. I get to play Elton John music. He plays my music. We play both our music together. I play with his band. He plays with my band. ... We play piano on our own. We jam. We have piano duels. It's kinda like joining a piano band," Joel told AP Radio.

ANDROMEDA RENEWED: Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, a syndicated sci-fi series starring Kevin Sorbo, has been renewed for its third and fourth seasons. Based on late Star Trek creator Roddenberry's archives, Andromeda chronicles the adventures of Dylan Hunt (Sorbo) and his crew as they travel through space.
