Britney Spears Returns for Double Duty on “SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE”

International pop superstar Britney Spears returns to do double duty as host and musical guest on “Saturday Night Live” February 2 (11:30 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.).

Spears makes her second “SNL” appearance. She is in good company, standing alongside a distinguished list of musicians that have hosted “SNL” as well as performed including Paul Simon, The Rolling Stones, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks, Sting and most recently, Jennifer Lopez.

Spears makes her feature film starring debut in the girlfriend road trip movie “Crossroads” on February 15. Meanwhile, her third album, “Britney” stays perched at the top of the charts after its Number One debut in Fall 2001.

She broke records and preconceptions with this album, becoming the first solo female performer in the history of The Billboard 200 to have her first three albums debut in the number one spot. “Britney” also debuted at number one in Canada, Austria, Germany, Israel, and Switzerland. By December 2001, "Britney" had been certified Gold, Platinum and quadruple Platinum.

Britney will perform selections from “Britney” in addition to performing in sketches with the critically acclaimed cast. During her last appearance, Spears poked fun at herself in an unforgettable monologue that addressed the numerous rumors flying about her as well as playing a tough-as-nails former Mouseketeer, and many other characters.

Born in rural Louisiana, Spears, 20, saw her last two albums “…Baby One More Time” and “Oops…I Did It Again” sell over 20 million records combined.
