Britney to get back at Justin in song, mag says
January 30, 2003

It looks as if Britney Spears is making up for lost time as a swinging single now that she and Justin Timberlake are history. Despite rumors that the former Mouseketeers are still in love, Spears has been playing the field. First there was a fling with Limp Bizkit's bad boy rap-rocker Fred Durst, but reportedly that's run its course. Next came a lip-locking session with Hollywood horndog Colin Farrell, 26, at an L.A. nightclub on Saturday night. (Farrell's a quick worker. He was spotted making out with Demi Moore after the Golden Globe awards last week, and has also been linked to playmate Nicole Narain, model Josie Maran and Tom Sizemore's ex-wife Maeve Quinlan, to name a few.) So many possibilities, so little time.

If Britney's recent romps are her way of putting more distance between her and Justin, you ain't seen nothing yet. According to the Feb. 10 issue of US Weekly, hitting newsstands Friday, she's set to record a song that will send a dagger through Justin's heart.

The magazine quotes excerpts from "Club Song" which reads like a comeback to Justin's November release, "Cry Me a River," the song and video in which he accused her of infidelity (though he also said he still loved her).

Consider the lyrics:

Justin:

"You don't have to say, what you did,

I already know, I found out from him

Now there's just no chance, for you and me, there'll never be."

Britney:

"I've also got the ability to open my mouth -

you don't want me to tell the truth

My little secret about you,

you sure you want me to play, too?"

US Weekly reports Britney will record the song sometime this year. A spokesperson for Spears' record company denied any knowledge of "Club Song," saying: "I don't know where those lyrics came from. She is releasing an album in October, but nobody has seen those lyrics, nor has she recorded them."

This cannot be a comfortable public relations situation: Britney and Justin share the same record representatives.
