Singer Britney Spears and her boyfriend, dancer Kevin Federline, are engaged, Spears' publicist said Friday.

The engagement comes about six months after the pop vixen was granted an annulment to dissolve her marriage in Las Vegas, Nevada, to a childhood friend.

Spears, 22, recently announced the cancellation of her Onyx Hotel tour because of a knee injury she suffered while shooting a music video in New York.

She underwent knee surgery at a hospital in New York to repair the damage.

No additional details on the engagement or a date for a wedding were available from Spears' publicist, Leslie Sloane.

In January, she married Jason Allan Alexander, a friend from her hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana, but had her wedding annulled two days later.

Her lawyers contended before a Nevada court that she "lacked understanding of her actions."
