Painless Wiring Headlight Relay Installation

Here is the information for the Painless Wiring relay and wiring kit (part # 30802) that will turn the low beams on along with the highs. I ordered mine from Jegs for about $21 plus shipping.

I mounted the relay and socket to the fender using an existing hole. I ran the black ground to the relay mounting bolt after removing a little paint to ensure a good ground. I then mounted the fuse holder to one of the bolts on the anti-lock motors.

I ran the red positive wire to one of the posts and the power distribution block located on the same fender under the black plastic cover. The tan and light green wires then just splice into the factory wires of the same color. There is a main factory wiring harness connector near the anti-lock motors.

This made for an easy place to tap into the headlight wires once I unplugged the big connector. I would suggest actually splicing the wires, soldering, and taping them well instead of relying on the little blue connectors included in the kit.
