Lawyers 4

IJLW Brazil 0

Team : Andrews, Churchley, Davison, Fox, Ross(the ginger one 45mins), G. Clark (c), P. Clark, Toms. Belcher, Donkin, Harrison.

Subs: The ginger one.

First game of the season saw Brazil face their first big test - Lawyers (first divison Wednesday team) and with 5 regular players missing, it was going to be tough. Brazil were really under the cosh for the first 10mins and rarely got possession, although Andrews in goal was rarely troubled. Slowly Brazil started to work their way into the game with the midfield quartet linking up well with the forwards, in particular Donkin who caused the Lawyers defence problems throughout the first half. Brazil looked to be getting the upper hand, when a sharp turn on the edge of the Brazil box saw a Churchley lunge take their player out - penalty. Andrews fighting for his place after pre-season errors, read the kick well and smoothered the ball. Brazil’s make shift defence began to look shaky and 3 quick sloppy goals were conceeded, punishing the succidal defending. Half time 3-0

Half time saw 1 change as "the ginger one" came on at right back, as Brazil sought to salvage some pride. A long ball over the top of the Brazil defence saw a rare Churchley error and the Lawyer’s forward lifted the ball over Andrews and into the net. Brazil continued to push forward and some good balls into the box failed to get what they deserved. Brazil looked ragged at times but a combination of last gasp tackles and world class saves from Andrews kept the score at 4-0.
