Bros were orignally made up of Matt Goss, Luke Goss & Craig Logan, the band was formed while still at School and it was Luke's idea to form a band, they signed to Massive Management and released their first single 'I O U Nothing' which wasn't a massive hit first time round, they then released 'When Will I Be Famous' as their 2nd single and thats when Brosmania kicked in.
'When Will I Be Famous' peaked at number 2 on 9th January 1988, their fan base grew immensly and Matt, Luke & Craig were mobbed wherever they went, a string of hits followed such as 'Drop the Boy '(Number 2), 'I O U Nothing' got it's 2nd release and peaked in at number one followed by 'I Quit' (4), 'Cat Among The Pigeon's & 'Silent Night' (2), they released the debut album 'Push' that sold by the bucketload worldwide, they then played Wembley Arena 10 times & went on to do the successfull Global Push Worldwide Tour.
Things changed for the band when in early 1989 it was announced that Craig Logan had left the band, the future with Craig Logan was questioned for a while at the back end of 1988 but Bros did an exclusive interview with Smash Hits magazine with the statement 'You can take it from us, Craig will never be in Bros again' on the headlining cover.
The media had been trying to finish Bros all throughout their career and soon as Craig's departure happened they tried to say that Bros were finished but they were definatly far from finished, they released their first single as a duo called 'Too Much' which was definatly the best single they had done so far, the single peaked in at number 2 and they played to a massive 70,000 fans at a jam packed Wembley Stadium, the hits such as 'Chocolate Box', 'Sister' & 'Madly In Love' followed all taken from their brilliant 2nd album titled 'The Time'
That year Bros went on to win plenty more Smash Hits awards including 'Best Group', 'Best Single' & 'Best Pop Video' after winning a string of awards the year before it was proven that without Craig, Matt & Luke could still cut it live aswell as continue to be a very successfull band.
That same year (1989) Bros released 'Sister' as a tribute to their sister Caroline who tragically died in a car crash which was Bros' Xmas release, they also participated in the Band Aid II project for 'Feed The World' which was the 1989 Xmas number one that year, Matt added some great vocals on the record while Luke replaced the amazing Phil Collins on drums (Phil played the drums on the original version of the track back in 1984)
Bros went quiet for a while, changed managements and came back with yet another spectacular single 'Are You Mine' which peaked at number nine, a lovely ballad with great vocals from Matt showed that still in 1991 Bros could yet again acheive a great amount of success, the single 'Try' followed featuring Luke singing for the first time on the B-Side track called 'Shelter', Luke added extra lead vocals on the song and added a differant vocal style to the track, then the album 'Changing Faces' followed and Bros had made a mature soul/rock album with a great edge to it.
The critics continued to knock Matt & Luke so after a very successful 5 years hard work Luke decided to call it a day while still enjoying top 20 success with the 'Changing Faces' album, after filling Wembley Stadium, claiming a Brit Award, having hit singles & albums worldwide Bros were definatly a band that were never forgotton, now currently gaining respect in solo careers Luke & Matt continue to have success in their own way and still have lots of loving fans and followers.
No matter who puts Luke or Matt down they always manage to pull through, two strong guys with great talent are bound to go far and you can take it from me that Matt & Luke are definatly far from finished.
