LOVING started in a 90-minute film on Sunday, June 26th 1983 in ABC. Next morning, from Monday to Friday, one daily episode was broadcast until on Friday, November 10th 1995, with a total of 3.169 episodes of twenty minutes each.

SYNOPSES

The show, set in the university town of Corinth in upstate New York, centered around four families whose lives intertwined socially, as well as romantically.

Roger Forbes was married to the beautiful Ann Alden, arnd they had two children: Lorna, a college student turned model and Jack, their adopted son. Ann’s parents were Isabelle and Cabot Alden, who had their hands full bringing up grandson Curtis. At the other end of the social spectrum was the Donovan Family, which included Patrick and Rose, their son Mike, a Vietnam veteran and policeman; their younger son Doug, a college professor turned journalist, and their young daughter, college student Stacey. Mike was married to Noreen Vochek, a nurse. Noreen's brother, Jim was a priest who was coming to terms with his past. Their sister, Merrill, was a TV reporter, who was unlucky at love.

Beautiful Merrill Vochek was a newscaster on WCN, which was located in the eastern seaboard town of Corinth. Merrill was engaged to drama professor Doug Donovan, but found herself attracted to Roger Forbes, the new president of Alden University, who was married and the father of two teenagers, Jack and Lorna. Unable to deny their feeling for one another, Merrill and Roger had an affair. After discussing the situation with her brother, Father Jim Vochek, Merrill decided to break off her engagement to Doug. Meanwhile, Roger's wife Ann asked him to move out of their home. Doug found solace with his work and his family, the tight-knit Donovan clan.

Meanwhile, athletic coach Billy Bristow was having problems with his wife Rita Mae, a bored housewife with a roving eye, which roved to young Curtis Alden, who immediately began a rivalry with Jack ,Curtis' cousin. Lorna sent a note to Billy saying his wife was having a fling with Douglas Donovan, and it almost broke up their marriage. They reconciled with Billy promising to learn to control his jealousy.

Elsewhere in Corinth, Garth Slater, a university dean, was making life hell on earth for wife June and daughter, Lily. For years, Garth had kept his wife a virtual prisoner through alcohol and pills and had involved Lily in incestuous relations. As a of her ordeal, Lily had developed a second personality, a vamp who was attracted to Curtis. The real Lily was in love with Jack. One night Garth was shot to death, and the finger of guilt pointed to Jack. At the trial June Slater suddenly remembered that it was she who shot her husband. Doped up with liquor and pills she had erased the incident from her mind.She and Lily left town.
