Bess Motta
Biography
Bess Motta, who will be seen as Rita in NEW MONKEES,
Coca-Cola Telecommunications new half-hour, first-run syndicated series
premiering this fall, is a familiar face to fitness fanatics. One of the
most recognized fitness personalities in the country, having graced the
covers of nearly every health and fitness magazine imaginable, Bess is
also a talented singer and actress.
As Rita, Motta plays the waitress who runs the 50's
style diner located inside NEW MONKEES' mansion, which is as close as
you'll come to a kitchen in the house. Not unlike her character, Motta is
a bundle of energy who can spar with the best of them! Both behind the
cameras and in front of them, Bess is quick-witted, bright, and everyone's
best buddy.
Her career began on the stage in musical comedy,
performing and starring in such theatrical successes as "The Great
American Backstage Musical" in both San Francisco and London. Her acting
credits have included a featured performance in the motion picture "The
Terminator" with Arnold Schwartzenegger, as well as a guest starring role
on NBC's "St. Elsewhere" and a recurring role on the syndicated series,
"Comedy Break." Bess will soon be seen in the new Irwin Winkler film "You
Talkin' To Me?," as well as in a starring role in the film "No Witnesses."
Both films are due out this Fall.
Bess' first love, however, is still her music. She
toured the Los Angeles club circuit for a couple of years with her own
band, "Bess and the Lost Boys," and also toured with the group "Big
Trouble." In addition to her work on NEW MONKEES, Bess is currently
working on developing her music career and establishing herself as a lead
vocalist.
Bess' fitness career started when she returned from
England 30 pounds overweight. She began teaching aerobic classes and was
spotted by a producer who asked her to choreograph and star in the
nationally syndicated aerobics exercise program "20 Minute Workout." The
program was seen in over 120 markets throughout the United States and
Canada and is currently available on video.
