Rock 'N' RollThe dude on the left is Steven Tyler, the lead singer of Aerosmith, and he's probably the person I pattern my life after the most. Besides the part about being addicted to heroin. But that was pretty much a mandatory part of the rock 'n' roll lifestyle in the '70s. This guy lived it, breathed it, ate it, and slept it. Actually, he probably didn't sleep much back then. He's clean now, and he's 50 years old. But the man still has his pulse on exactly what's cool and what people wanna hear in 2002. He's a monster on stage. When he's not screamin' his heart out, he's playing the blues harp like he invented it. Most rock 'n' roll bands from the '70s and '80s are either long gone or playing at your local county fair, so I totally admire how Tyler and Aerosmith have adapted to stay on top. I've picked up more tricks from Aerosmith than any other band, but they're not my only favorite. Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, GN'R, Skid Row, Tesla, Van Halen, and Whitesnake all connect with me on that level that makes you wanna press down the gas pedal just a little bit harder. I need to stop that. I've got too many tickets already. But I'm a rocker, so I've got that attitude going 24/7. Even when I'm not in the car. |

BaseballBy far my favorite sport. I have a casual interest in football and hockey, but I'll watch the Giants on TV over anything else. I actually started out as an A's fan, though, when my Grandpa took me to some games as a kid. Totally hooked from the start. I played little league for a few years, but I figured out around 7th grade that I kinda sucked. It's tough to love something so much, and yet be really bad at it. So I had to be content just being a fan, which is cool, 'cuz it's such a killer experience to be there live. My mom used to get us partial season ticket plans for the A's and Giants, but somewhere along the line I became a much bigger fan of National League style baseball. There's just so much more strategy involved when you play without the DH. I don't get out to nearly as many games as I'd like to anymore, since it's almost impossible to get decent seats to a Giants game. But I'll be out at Pac Bell at least 5 times this season, and I won't bitch about the wind, or how long the pitcher takes to throw the ball. |

Pro WrestlingI got into pro wrestling when I was 10 years old, and my mom always thought I was going to outgrow it. Ha! I proved her wrong. So anyway, I know it's fake, but that's not why I watch it. I think you can watch a pro wrestling show and feel every emotion there is to feel. You root for the underdog, because you've BEEN the underdog, and you know what it's like. You laugh when the good guy makes fun of the bad guy, because you KNOW somebody like the bad guy, and you can't stand that dude. And then it's over and you can worry about your real life. It's basically 4 hours of quality escapism every week. |
