The sun is burning down on you...
You've walked for miles and miles in the desert, hoping to find shelter from the unmerciful sun...
and to quench your thirst that is growing with each tiring step you take...
But so far, you've only seen mirages of water...cool, wonderful water...
You can almost see it, but you know it's unreachable, only a vision...
The only things for real are the endless dunes of sand...
and the vultures circling above you in the cloudless sky.
The next step you take proves to be one too many...
you let yourself go, let yourself fall into the hot sand...
You just want to sleep now, give into that luring feeling that,
once you sleep, everything will be alright since then, nothing will matter anymore...
As your consciousness is slowly slipping away, you faintly hear approaching hoof-beats.
Something soft nuzzles you and a sweet voice says
something into your ear... what it is you first don't understand...
But then, as the voice becomes more and more urgent,
you take your last strength to make out the words being said over and over again.
It couldn't be... could it?
"I have water with me, it's right here in this bottle, you only have to lift your head,"
you hear the voice say.
Still not entirely trusting, you slowly lift your head and...really!
There's water running down your throat, the water you've dreamed about and thought you'd never get!
After emptying the water bottle, you look up to take a look at your savior.
It is a pony, yellow as the desert, with a brown-purple mane
and tail and an Egyptian Pyramid as her symbol.
She looks back at you with friendly, green eyes
and says with a slight accent in her melodious voice:
"I'm Desert Rose and I'm so glad I've found you in time!
Didn't anyone warn you about the 'Thousand Deserts'?"
You shake your head. The only thing you remember is walking through
a bright forest which abruptly ended, with the desert stretched out right outside of it.
You open your mouth to tell Desert Rose about it, but she shakes her head and says:
"You can tell me all about that later. We have to go, especially before the sun sets!
I take care of the Desert Rose Oasis, the only shelter in this desert for poor lost souls like you!
You can see it there in a distance."
She points at a flimmering image of palm-trees, standing directly next to a large, glimmering lake.
Besides it is what appears to be a small cottage.
You start wondering...haven't you seen this image before?
Yes, you remember you have, but at that point you only thought it was another mirage...
You direct your attention back to Desert Rose who is now saying:
"My friends and I at the oasis love to help people stranded in the desert
and we love to have company! You can stay with us as long as you like!
The oasis is not far from here! I'll carry you. Let's go!"
