Poison/Ratt/great white/la guns at montage mountain, scranton, pa
Again, below is the review that I posted on the BBS. For the small newspaper review that I found, click here.
Like
my first post about the E-Centre, this is going to be another totally positive
review. I know alot of people who don't like a review unless it's totally
critical which is why I'm telling you up front.
Montage Mountain----
The forcast called for showers. Figures, we have a drought warning, it was
my first really outdoor concert in years, and
now it decides to rain. Well turns out it didn't rain after all. Bad for the
water table but good for me. There was a traffic jam on the way in which caused
us to be about 10 min late.
From the moment we pulled into the parking lot (I think even my mom's jeep would've had a hard time with the huge stones and gravel) we knew that this was a totally different venue from the E-Centre. Going inside just confirmed it. It was really difficult to walk in spots especially the long hard walk uphill to the port-a-potties (yuck).
Even though the place was kind of crappy, the crowd seemed a lot more excitable. Not to mention, we had way better seats - sixth row dead center which became third row after Bret told security to let the crowd move up closer.
LA Guns set was pretty much exactly the same. The crowd seemed to be into it more.
Great
White's set was also basically the same, except for one really hysterical
difference. During the sing a long part for
Once Bitten Twice Shy, he started to sing "Who's the leader of the club
that's made for you and me?" It was so funny hearing the whole audience of
rock-n-roll fans singing "M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E. I laughed so hard!! Did he
do this elsewhere?
Ratt added Shame, Shame, Shame to their set. Their set seemed longer too. I didn't know why then, but I found out later.
Once again it was time for POISON. They came out in their usual flamboyant fashion. Halfway into LWTCDI some idiots next to us started beating the crap out of each other. Why would you pay $30 just to get yourself thrown out because you're being stupid? Anyway, as I was looking at CC I noticed he had on a hospital scrub shirt and a cast on his ankle with a red cross on it. After the song, Bret said CC had gotten a hairline fracture the night before in CT and refused to cancel tonight's show. Even so, he was still running around and jumping off things. Like Rikki said at the meet and greet, he did everything the doctor told him not to. You could see he was in a lot of pain at certain points. I think it was great of him to do the show even though it hurt so much. I guessed that was why Ratt's set was a little longer and Poison's was a tiny bit shorter. Once again the show was wonderful. During his solo, CC kept coming up to the mike and saying "OOOOUCH!!!" and then he said, "Scranton I really need to know if you're happy to see me cause this hurts really baaaad!!"
After the show, we asked one person where to go for the meet and greet, they knew right away what we were talking about and told us where we should be. We waited for about 15-20 minutes, then we all went into a little hallway filled with lockers. Rikki came in soon after. He was talking to some relatives and then he looked over at us. "I remember you!" he said as he walked toward us. I babbled about how much fun I had at the show and had him sign the animal rights T shirt I had. He thought it was neat and showed the whole room. He spent about 5-10 minutes with us. We got better pictures of him with both of us this time (stupid camera kept jamming). Then he moved on to everyone else waiting there. I thought I had an incredibly memorable experience the first time, but the second time was even better. I can't wait til next time!!!
