Maniac Mansion
Things go trailing off into the distance... Don't be a tuna head!

Yes, Maniac Mansion. If any of you live in Canada or some place like that, you'd remember a show on the Family Channel called Maniac Mansion, which is based on this game. The game also had a sequel (Day of the Tentacle, available at lucasarts.com for a mere 20 bucks.) that I've never played but heard great things about. The story of this is that there are three people that go inside a mansion to find the main guy's girlfriend, Sandy, who's been kidnapped by the messed up Dr. Fred. And, since Sandy has the IQ of a peanut, she doesn't get the sense to just open the door and leave. Oh, wait I forgot, she can't open it without a magic key card. So, you have to basically find the card key and all the other essentials you need to get to her. But, not so easy. The mansion is still inhabited by Fred's wife, Edna, his son, Ed, and his other [dead] son, Ted. Ted isn't much of a threat, since he's dead. As you can see in the second picture above, Dave, the main man, has to feed a tentacle to "pass." What do you feed it? Why, what everybody wants to eat: Wax fruit! And what better way to enjoy it then with a bottle of Pepsi? Oh, and, if you download it off the internet, you may find a version where you can put [Ed's] hamster in the microwave and nuke it. Then, you take the remains back to Ed, and he kills you. Fun, right? Note: The only two kids that can do this are Razor and Syd.

- Graphics: Hmm...that seems about right. And so is a 9.

- Sound: Hmm...not bad either...provided you enjoy messed-up 80s music. Just for that, an 8!

- Gameplay: The "mouse" type game is a bit difficult to control, but besides that, best...game...ever. Perfect 10.

- Overall rating: 9.0

Comment: Hmm...um...no comment.
