Chip n' Dale
Remember the good old days, when TV cartoons used to be good, with thought put into them, and Disney wasn't run by a dumbass who thought all viewers wanted were kid sitcoms and made-for-TV movies? You do if you've been watching VH1! I have, so I do! I don't remember them talking about this one, though. Oh well.
For those who don't remember, this show was about a group called the Rescue Rangers, who did stuff to help fight crime, like eliminate owl populations or clear a restaurant of tiny aliens. There were always two antagonists in the show, and one of them would be playing the bad guy each episode. The first, Fat Cat, was a cat who looked like Marlon Brando in the Godfather, and he ran a casino. That's right: some odd cat runs a casino that people gamble in. Do you see something odd about this picture? Anyway, the other guy was Professor Nimnul, a rather stupid-looking person who was your textbook "Fools! I'll destroy them all!"-mad-scientist-guy. But for once, this isn't about Nimnul!
Anyway, the game begins when they discover their next door neighbor's cat is missing. All turns out fine, but then the tables turn! (And they have to, otherwise there's no game.) Fat Cat kidnaps Gadget (A member of the Rescue Rangers, she invents a lot of crap.) and then you've got to rescue her now! Wow, how original!
Of course, as is natural in games like these, it ends up being you versus the world. From throw rugs to ninja squirrels (I didn't make that up; there really are ninja squirrels.) to tennis balls, nobody is on your side! Not even your teammate, who's either absent from the game or carrying you around, contemplating whether he should throw you off the edge of a high platform you might be standing on or not. Once you rescue Gadget, she gives you a rocket which sends you into space for no real reason except that space is cool, and Disney knew that would make the game sell! Too bad nobody knew about it until they had almost finished the game.
- Graphics: You can't deny how bold the graphics look. (8)
- Sound: The music is a bit obnoxious at times, but the sound gives it an overall cartoony feel, like it should. (9)
- Gameplay: It's a pretty straightforward platformer. That's fine with me. (9)
- Overall rating: 8.7
Comment: Chi- Chi- Chi- Chip n' Dale!
