- C1, C2, C3: 410 uF 300 Volt electrolytic flash capacitors store
required coil energy; purchased from surplus catalog for like $2/each
- D1: High voltage rectifier, epoxied in flyback transformer rectifies
the output of the flyback transformer so capacitors can be charged
- D2, D3, D4: 16 A 1000 Volt rectifier housed in SCR power cube;
protects the
SCR from overvoltage by the coil. Also disapates coil energy and improves
projectile velocity.
- Q1: 2N3773 Bipolar power transistor mounted on heat sink; drives
transformer circuit puchased from ON semiconductors for like $2
- Q2, Q3: Photo transistor packaged with transmitting diode; purchased
from digikey.com for like $2/each
- Q4, Q5: BU407 Medium sized bipolar transistor for signal
amplification; purchased from ON semiconductors for $.72
- SCR1, SCR2, SCR3: 16 A 1000 Volt SCR in silicon power cube for
swiching capacitors, purchased
from Surplus Sales of Nebraska for like $5/each
- SCR4, SCR5: Medium sized SCR for signal memory application; purchased
from digikey.com for like $.50/each
- T1: Flyback Transformer From Television
- VOM: Cheap analog voltage meter for monitoring capacitor voltage;
salvage from hardware store trash
- 2K Variable resistors: Allows the tweeking of the gate signal to the
SCR's; couple bucks at fry's electronics
- Red and Green Led's: red tells me that the scr gate is getting current
and green means the gate is off and ready to fire.
