Keeper

I hold you in the palm of my
hand
Promising to protect you
to keep you safe from harm
and to let the world see you
as i see you from above
my job is not always easy
for not all of you are the
same
some respect me for who i am
and others laugh and call
you names
treating
you like nothing more than a
piece of dirt
a sinking hole of water
not for what you are really
worth
you
are home to many
a sanctuary of many sorts
taken too often for granted
not seen for your true
majestic being
I
can only hope that as time
moves on
as generations come and go
you will be treated with the
respect and love
that you have so givingly
bestowed
Until
such time
I shall cradle you in my
hands
offer you some protection
and silenty watch from
above....
