~*Angel & Buffy: The Follow-Up*~

Buffy did, in time, come back to Sunnydale..the fateful place that brought the two together and then ripped them apart. In an attempt to move on and leave the past(and Angel) behind, she said her last goodbye from the mansion where she'd sent him to Hell. She left her Claddaugh ring, a symbol of their love for each other, behind in the mansion. Little did she know that the same symbol is the very thing that brings him back from that dark world of torment. All is not well though, for the emotional scars of hundreds of years of pain(time moves differently there) have left their mark. He's no longer who he once was, he's now a vicious animal that knows nothing of the life he once had. She finds out of his return, and tries to reach him. Her attempts are met when he saves her life. She then begins to help him heal, but tells him of her *new* boyfriend. For a long while she's pretty cold towards him, attempting to push him away. The love between them cannot be hidden, however, and they find it impossible to deny. Her boyfriend, Scott, breaks up with her as a result of her ever-present distance from life. Even with this, she denies that she's anything but friends with Angel. When Spike shows up, forcing them to help him, they learn that they can't deny their love. They'll always be in love, and they know it. So Buffy tells him she can't see him again, unless he can tell her he doesn't love her. He can't, and so she leaves his life. When an evil later tries to overtake Angel's mind, haunting him with the knowledge of the crimes he's committed, he is nearly driven to insanity. It tells him that his life's purpose is to hurt his only love. He knows, deep down, that he can't do it(even after extensive torment)..and is found waiting for sunrise to come. Buffy, who is aware that something is happening to him, gets her friends and Watcher together to research it. She goes to find Angel, and finds him waiting for day. They have one of the most powerful scenes in Buffy/Angel history(the 'Amends' one in Favorite Buffy /Angel Scenes). She tells him that she wishes she wished him dead, but she can't. He wants her to let him be strong, and this causes more arguement. The sun doesn't rise that day, due to Sunnydale's first snowfall ever. Only love could cause such a miracle. She says that they can be strong together, and love has risen again. From then on, they face the obstacles in their lives without denying their love.
