Note: This short story is set in a future life, one in which Buffy and Angel never met. Until their paths cross, for only a brief moment.
A stranger, that's all he was. One with dark, brooding eyes..and beautifully chiseled features. He was just another person, like any other, passing her by on the street. Yet the moment their two paths crossed - for that one, precious second - and their bodies swept past..something had happened. Their hands had brushed, and their eyes had met. In his there was a certain saddness, a familiarity she couldn't understand..but knew all too well. But she'd never met this man before. Despite this, something in her heart - something buried deep within her - told her that this man meant something more to her than she could ever conceive. A feeling - one from deep inside - told her that this brief, chance meeting was something more significant than either of them could ever know. But it lasted only a moment, and then - as quickly as it had come into her life, changing it in that brief instant - it was gone. He went, she went..and they'd both gone their seperate ways. Each's gaze had dropped from the other's. She couldn't place it..but for that one, brief second in time..she'd experienced something she had never felt before, and doubted she'd ever feel again. But he was just a stranger, one she'd met by chance...one she'd, in some way or another, connected with like no one else. For that one instant in time.
