"The Return"

I tread
sure-footed
the skies
overcast
and gray
my eyes
straight ahead
soft snow
climbing my legs
I carry onward
my body
grows numb
everything inside
telling me to lay
and rest
but I continue
this vast desert
of ice and snow
where breath
is frozen
and hearts grow cold
my thoughts
drift to You
and I feel
the heated
palpitations that grow
my strength leaves
I fall to my knees
face in hands
tears flow freely
moistening my palms
such sweet release
the warm heart
now broken
pouring forth
burning emotion
in that moment
Absolution
sunlight breaks
glorious rays
upon my face
my reddened eyes
smile up
towards the light
Your hand beckoning
I arise
though I am weak
Your spirit
strengthens me
My Father
may I never
leave you
Your hand
frimly in mine
Yes
this is where
I belong
My life
for Yours
Your life
for Mine
I can give
nothing more
nothing less
yet
how unworthy
I am
to walk
by Your side
but You
just smile
and
I die.
