Holiday Fruit Cookies
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 3-1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 cups maraschino cherries - cut in
halves
- 2 cups chopped dates
- 1-1/2 cups coarsely chopped pecans
Preparation -
Cream the shortening and sugar together in a large bowl. Beat in the
eggs and sour cream. In a separate bowl mix the flour,
soda, and salt together. Add this dry mixture to the creamed mixture.
Add the cherries, chopped dates, and pecans. Cover the bowl and chill
dough for 1 hour. Drop the mixture by teaspoons full
onto a greased baking sheet. Bake in a preheated oven at 350º
for 15 minutes.
