Cinnamon Dough Ornaments
- 3/4 to 1 cup applesauce
- 4 oz. ground cinnamon
Preparation -
Mix the applesauce with
cinnamon to form a stiff dough. Add more cinnamon if needed, depending on the applesauce you're using, to make a dough that's not too sticky to roll out. Canned applesauce works best for this. Roll dough to 1/4" thickness.
Cut with cookie cutters. Using a thin drinking straw, make a hole for ribbon. Let dry on a rack for
several days, turning occasionally. Decorate with royal icing or
paint as desired. When thoroughly dry, you can spray them with clear spray to
preserve the ornaments, but this will take away their wonderful cinnamon smell. Put a thin ribbon through the holes for hanging.
