Baked Apple Rings
- 4 Granny Smith or other baking apples
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp. honey
- 1/2 cup water
Preparation -
Spray a shallow baking dish with non-stick cooking spray; set aside. Peel and core the apples. Slice into 1/2" thick rings. Place the apple rings in the prepared shallow baking dish; set aside.
Whisk the brown sugar, ground cloves, honey and water together. Heat the mixture in a sauce pan on the stove or heat in a microwave oven. Pour the heated mixture over the apple rings. Bake in a preheated oven at 400º for about 15 minutes, turning the slices over about half way through the baking time. Use baked apple rings as a garnish with pork or chicken, or enjoy as a side dish.
