Journal of a Cynic

3/8/99

Just watched "Law and Order"--the murderer for tonight was played by Matt Keeslar, who went to high school with me. Man, is he hot. He was a couple years ahead of me, but we worked together on the school musicals every year, and he was one of my mother's favorite students. (She's a teacher.) His most notable films have been The Last Days of Disco and Run of the Country. He just keeps popping up in places where no guy I went to school with should be. Like People magazine.

Broke down and bought a hair dryer today. Flat, air-dried hair was great when it was long, but now that it's short I look funny with it all sticking up/down/out. They keep giving me poofy hairstyles. It's so embarrassing when I'm in the chair and they ask what I "do" to my hair; I can't bring myself to say I wash it and let it dry and then sometimes I brush it. They look at me like I'm insane. Right, like I'm the only woman who doesn't fuss about her hair.

The other day at work I was suckered into buying this little stuffed chickie that was part of an Easter display. I'm such a sap when it comes to those cute-shit little things. I was talking to Linda the floral manager, whose job it is to suck in the weak impulse-buyers like me. She thought it would be funny to take these little stuffed ducks and bunnies and put plastic 6-pack rings around their necks. Sick, but funny.
