Journal of a Cynic

perfect saturday

John and I celebrated our three-month anniversary today, unknowingly. We realized at the end of the afternoon that it was, in fact, our anniversary, and we were glad we hadn't fucked it up or anything.

Interestingly enough, I spent most of last night on the couch. I was totally pissed off because Julia won't sleep in the bed anymore, now that Fleck wreaks havoc all night. She insists on sleeping in the S-mores chair, which is our tan, brown and white striped armchair, inherited from my grandmother. I went out and watched tv for an hour or so, willing the cat to sleep there with me, but instead she wrapped herslef into a ball on the S'mores chair and I fell asleep. I woke up with the damn kitten on my chest. I let Julie out and went to bed around 7 this morning.

Went to Macon today and spent too much money on stuff. We spent a good 30-45 minutes in the pet store, picking out cool stuff for the cats. We also checked out the puppies who were there for Adoption Day. Then we went to the bookstore and spent too much time in the CD section, picking up a copy of Yo-Yo Ma's solo disc and a mushy music CD with some Vaughan Williams, Mahler, and Barber slow movements. In the book department I grabbed a copy of The Artist's Way, just to see what all the fuss is about, and John insisted that we get a City Hunter video so he can hear pamie's voice.

Incidentally, John got a little pissybaby when he read my bit a few days ago about his crush on pamie. He said I've gone "too far." But he didn't make me take it out...hmm....

We played Scrabble again when we got home. John beat me by a few points yesterday, so I thoroughly trounced him today. I used all seven letters in the word "hoarier" when the game was about three-quarters over, kicking the final score to 334-246. The game was hot, though. There were no crappy words at all. Best words were hoarier (of course,) enticed, roan, gyp, anime, eclair, quirks, diode, and rouses.

We spent the rest of the day reading, then we cooked dinner and watched Analyze This. Altogether it was a very good day. Part of today's exquisite coolness is that it's October 16th and I wore shorts and a T-shirt, rode around in the convertible and I wished it wasn't quite so warm. Pressing 85 today, I'll bet. I could get used to the winters down here.
