The fun, unique, yet tender lyrics and tunes of All Star United have managed to score big time with many- even before ASU had their album out. All Star United has been featured in Christian music magazines such as CCM and 7Ball, and also has had a few hit singles on Christian radio. The band's unique musical style is a quirky blend of British pop, American rock & roll, and Retro grooves. Artists like The Beatles, The Kinks, The Turtles, Blur, Ben Folds, and Oasis have been influence to the musical taste of ASU, as well as the diverse styles of each individual band member. For example, Christian Crowe loves funk and disco, while Patrick McCallum likes synth and pop stuff more. The lyrics to all of All Star United's songs were written by Ian Eskelin. The first CD (self-titled) is a good blend of serious songs (Drive, Angels), and not-so-serious ones (La La Land, Smash Hit). All Star United's latest release, International Anthems Of The Human Race, is a little more "rocky" then their first, but just as good. From the beachy tune of "Theme From Summer" to the hard core style of "Welcome to Our Big Rock Show", it's all cool!! If you listen closely to the words in all of All Star United's songs, you will discover the tender, prayerful, yet fun-loving hearts of this band.
