How it all Started

Now I know some of you may not think so, but I really am a huge fan of the boys, and this is how it all started.

It was a rainy cold day in 1996 and my friend Jess and I were at the library getting books out for our Classical Studies assignments. Once we had our books we still had an hour to wait for our bus, so we decided to look at some magazines. I pick up this teenybopper magazine from Europe and we started looking through it laughing at all the stupid stuff in it. Then I turn to a page and a see a picture of this REALLY sexy guy, so I look down and I see that it's Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys. Well I'd never heard of them before and neither had Jess, so we were like, who is that for a while and then we just forgot about it and went home.

About a year later I'm sitting down watching TV and a really lame video come on with these guys dancing around on some bleachers in the rain thinking they are all that, so I'm like laughing at them and stuff, then at the end of the song, I see that it's by the Backstreet boys. I watched out for that video for ages, but it never came on again.

A couple of months later New Zealand gets MTV Europe, and they play the "Everybody" video all the time. Then we get the internet, and thats it, I'm hooked. Anyway, one day I'm surfing around some BSB sites and I come across We Like Girls (which by the way happens to be the funniest site ever) and I'm thinking, there really should be more sites like this. So thats how my site was born.

The name What The Deal? actually came about when my friend and I where watching the BSB on the Billboards last year and I was trying to convert her to being a fan, which didn't work. When she saw AJ she goes "Whats the deal with his hat?" and I don't know how many times I've thought that about so many things that the boys do. So I thought it was the perfect name for my site.
