Ah, the Spin article, I'm sure most of you have heard about it and read it, if you haven't click here. Everyone has their own opinions about it, and it seems to me like everyone is saying 'Oh, I didn't realise what arseholes they are' and 'Nick is so rude and arrogent' etc.
Well forget that, I loved the article, thought it was great. I wanted to personally shake the hand of the person who wrote it. The main reason I like it so much is that it shows that the boys are, infact not perfect, and they are just normal guys. Which I'm sure came as a bit af a surprise to lots of the tennyboppers. But when you think about it, how many 19 year old guys do you know that would stay and talk to a handicapped girl rather than go and chat up "two able-bodied girls". I'm sure there are some, but these are the exceptions. And I also know that if I were in their position I would much rather be singing to a sexy guy rather than an ugly fat freak. It's just human nature, everyone is like that, and I'm glad the boys are too.
This is my favourite part of the article:
"The garage door shimmies open, and girls begin crawling all over the van,
smushing their faces up against the glass. Nick turns to Brian. 'You know, if we
don't go out there,' he says wearily, 'we're gonna look like real pricks.' "
Quite understandable really If you ask me. I mean, they've just done a performance
where they had god knows how many people screaming at them, and now they are surrounded
by screeching little girls swamping their van trying to get a glimpse of them.
I sure wouldn't be brave enough to venture out there if I was them.
Another thing that really gets me is the girl wondering why Nick would throw an autograph at a fan and just walk away. Well maybe it's because almost every where he goes, he is hounded by dilusional pre-teens, wanting him to sign a stupid piece of paper for them. I can't say I'd be terribly obliging all the time either.
So yeah, basically my point is that if you are one of the people who thought negatively about
any of the boys after you read this article, please
try and put your self in the position that they are in
and think about how you would react to the same situations.
And if that doesn't work, think about all the other lovely
things the boys do for their fans. And if even that doesn't
work for you, just remember this. That article is funny as hell,
and my rule is: If it's funny and mean, the funnyness cancels out the meanness.
And in this case the mean is all canceled out and there's still a whole
lot of funny left over.
