Our Child-Care Photo Album

Welcome to the first page of our photo album.

The photo's shown here demonstrate how we spend our time in child care, often people think that children in child care simply "play" all day, its true they do! What is not realized is that with-in that play we incorporate many learning opportunities, for example you may enter the room and see children drawing faces on paper and think "thats cute" but would you consider that the discussion prior to the activity would help your child with Expressing Language ability, Listening and Reading Readiness

It's true the language arts area can help children develop language skills to talk about situations they find difficult and the feelings these situations bring about.
Through literature and discussion children learn how other children have dealt with similar feelings and situations.
This activity will teach vocabulary for expressing feelings, children will use simple words to discuss their drawings such as sad, happy, excited, mad etc.

The teacher would use the activity to demonstrate words, especially those associated with feelings.
Children would be encouraged to explain their feelings in the drawing with clues: "If you were angry would you have your eyes open or shut?"

Mastering reading readiness skills requires a child to make fine auditory and visual distinctions.
This activity may be expanded by reading stories dealing with angry / happy feelings and peer conflict, puppet finger play and simple songs requiring hand actions.

So the next time you see a child scribbling accross a blank page of paper, think twice.... you can be sure they are.

Birthday's are special.

We always celebrate a childs birthday.
Our day is planned to be flexible and on Birthdays we go all out to make it a special day for the children.

Some activities we include are face painting, balloon games, and there is alway's a cake.

Visitors are Fun!!

It is important to us that we have an "Open Door Policy" this means that we welcome visitors to the centre at any time, without appointment. Of course we occasionaly get special visitors who are happy to entertain......

Visitors are Fun!!

Christmas and Easter are always celebrated, however as we often have a multicultural enrolment we avoid the religious aspects.

Children act out a scene from a nursery rhyme using face masks they made earlier in the day...
