You smile,
"I'd much rather get to know you a bit. What was the hatching like? Who did you impress? What did you think before?" you suddenly feel like you're about to burst with questions. Arrilynn seems more than willing to talk, so you ask away.
Arrilynn laughs, "I'll answer the last first. Before, I was like it would be thrilling but it would be a ton of responsiblity. I was afraid of being looked down upon, though. I wanted to impress ssooo badly, I didn't think I could handle the rejection. But any would have been wonderful and special! To be let in on the secrets of the dragonriders....The thrill of flying whenever you want! I was excited, scared, hopeful, and wondering all at the same time, and all the time."
"I didn't think we'd even deserve such an honor. With my caring for the tunnelsnakes, and with the firelizards that Arrilynn has, not to mention the double-weyrs. I would have been satisfied just to be at a hatching. I was hoping we'd impress, though. Such an honor! Arrilynn just about wrapped it up."
"Speaking of the double weyrs!" Arrilynn's eyes light up, now just taking a peice of conversation instead of the general, "The weyrwoman gave us SUCH a nice weyr to stay in before we impressed. We've grown so attached to it, though, we don't want to be anywhere else. There's the circle-room here, then each of us has two individual rooms, one would be for the dragon, and the other for our living, though a dragon CAN fit in those. And we also have easy-access outside! Everyone WANTS to move us in with the others of the clutch, but most here are agreeable to where we are."
D'shen chuckles, "Its kind of far compared to the other weyrs, though. If it wasn't for Arrilynn's chatter, I think we'd have had more visitors or closer quarters from the beginning"
"HEY! I bet if it wasn't for YOUR clutter, and the way you HOARDE things, not me. Its nice to talk!
D'shen just rolls his eyes. You grin, "What about your family where do you come from?"
"From a small place, it doesn't even really have a name. It has its share of gardening and runnerbeasts. Its so near the woods, too! Its really a lovely place. Our mother is a healer. We don't know our father. The whole village really looks after all the children. Its really peaceful."
D'shen nodds, "We rarly even get visitors, and not many of the bloodlines there have EVER impressed..........."
Arrilynn pounces on that, "But we DID impress. Me, the GOLD, my wonderful Sassith, and Dashen the FIRST hatchling, a large, lovely, and vain hatcling, Esnath!"
"He is NOT!! And can't you remember D'shen?"
"Oh, pooh! You KNOW he is!"
"Sisters! And girls aren't?"
"Brothers! Always thinking us girls...."
"Sisters! And you girls......."
"Brothers! BOYS!"
"Sisters! GIRLS!"
"BROTHERS!"
"SISTERS!"
"HOLD IT! I don't want to be in the middle of a sibling rivary here! By the egg, why did you even agree to have ajoining weyrs?"
Arrilynn and D'shen start laughing.
"We really love each other."
"Yeah, we couldn't be seprated for longer than a few weeks, even if we always fight. D'shen's a terrific listener and, yes, I'm a big talker. And we understand and know each other better than anything!"
D'shen grins, excitement mounting in his eyes, "Except for our new lifemates! We're still be close friends. We're still getting used to all this, and we also have hobbies and stuff we do together. Hey, are you going to see my weyr?"
Dashen looks at Arrilynn, who very promptly replies.
"If you look at HIS, you'll have to visit MINE!"
"Of course, I'll be first." D'shen has a glitter in his eyes you can't quite place.
"Dashen, you..."
You don't hear anymore of the arguement, as you've started laughing. You'd reconized the glitter in D'shen's eyes. He LOVED to argue with Arrilynn! No wonder...He seems quieter than her, but you can't help but to wonder if he's really more of a joker.
