Naxos of America has recalled more than 150 titles under its Naxos Historical, Naxos Jazz Legends and Naxos Nostalgia rubrics, after reaching a settlement with Capitol Records, Inc., which successfully sued Naxos for copyright infringement in April of this year. In accordance with its mission statement to promote the music of contemporary composers, Accessible Contemporary Music will record a different piece by a living composer every week and post it to their website as an audio streaming file. This project will continue until the end of the 2005-2006 season in May and will begin again in September at the start of the 2006-2007 season. Accessible Contemporary Music's core ensemble and guest artists include some of the best free-lance musicians working in Chicago today. This is an exciting opportunity for composers and for lovers of new music everywhere!

Sony to create classical band

A MUSIC label is taking a leaf out of the book of pop svengalis who manufactured multi-million selling pop bands such as the Spice Girls and Take That by recruiting young choristers for a classical music group. Sony BMG has advertised in the Stage newspaper for boys and girls aged ten to 14 to audition for the new band.
