Metropolitan Opera general manager Joseph Volpe has
announced that Placido Domingo has
withdrawn from his singing engagements with the
company until March 8, due to the bout of
tracheitis that prevented the tenor from
singing in the company's January 26 performance
of Alfano's Cyrano. Domingo's decision comes on
the advice of his doctors.
