Yuri Temirkanov, The Baltimore Symphony's music director since 2000, plans to return from Russia to conduct three weeks of concerts in late May and early June. It will be the first time Temirkanov has led the orchestra since October; for personal reasons, he canceled four weeks of concerts he was to have conducted in March. Philip D. English, the chairman of the board of directors, will step down in June at the end of his three-year term. Vice President and General Manager Karen Swanson also resigned, effective June 30.

The Columbus Symphony Orchestra has hired the manager of the Boston Pops to be its executive director. Tony Beadle, 53, will be responsible for the overall operation of the orchestra. He'll begin June 15. He has served as manager of the Boston Pops since 1999.
