Lakeshore Records will release the original motion picture soundtrack for CITY OF MEN. The album features original music by Golden Globe-nominated composer Antonio Pinto (CENTRAL STATION, LOVE AND DEATH IN THE TIME OF CHOLERA).
Brazilian composer Antonio Pinto was named "Discovery of the Year" at the 2003 World Soundtrack Awards/Flanders International Film Festival and was nominated for a Golden Globe award for the song "Despedida", which he co-wrote with Shakira. He made his domestic debut in Brazil in 1994, but first attracted international attention for his work on CENTRAL STATION in 1998. Four years later he composed the music for CITY OF GOD and was selected by Michael Mann to write the end credit for COLLATERAL. Pinto's credits also include LORD OF WAR and LOVE AND DEATH IN THE TIME OF CHOLERA. The 2002 film CITY OF GOD introduced the world to the horrors of the slums of Rio de Janeiro and followed the lives of several kids who grew up in the slums through the 60s, 70s and 80s. Utilizing the same setting and same actors, but set in the present day, CITY OF MEN became a television mini-series running from 2002-2005. The TV series transitions to the big screen with the new film CITY OF MEN. In CITY OF MEN, producer Fernando Meirelles (The Constant Gardner) returns to the Brazilian favelas of his Academy AwardT-nominated film, CITY OF GOD. Growing up in a culture dictated by violence and run by street gangs, teenagers Acerola (Douglas Silva) and Laranjinha (Darlan Cunha) have become close as brothers. With their eighteenth birthdays fast approaching, Laranjinha sets out to find the father he never met, while Acerola struggles to raise his own young son. But when they suddenly find themselves on opposite sides of a gang war, the lifelong friends are forced to confront a shocking secret from their shared past.

Emmy® Award winning composer Geoff Zanelli (DISTURBIA, INTO THE WEST) wrote the original music for the film. Geoff Zanelli attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music. In 1994 he met Academy Award-winning film composer Hans Zimmer and joined Zimmer's studio team. This experience led to working with composer John Powell on his first Hollywood feature, FACE/OFF, directed by John Woo. Throughout the following years, Zanelli would be called on as a composer and arranger for Powell and Zimmer on many feature films, including THE PRINCE OF EGYPT, ANTZ, the Golden Globe-nominated scores for PEARL HARBOR and THE LAST SAMURAI, and the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN trilogy. 
Critically acclaimed composer, Osvaldo Golijov has joined forces with one of the world's most talented directors, Francis Ford Coppola to create a mesmerizing and captivating score to the film, Youth Without Youth which is releasing on Deutsche Grammophon on December 11th. The score was recorded in Bucharest by the Bucharest Metropolitan Orchestra, young and enthusiastic musicians, conducted by Radu Popa. Francis Ford Coppola and Osvaldo Golijov were present during the entire recording phase, and Deutsche Grammophon has also included a 10-minute documentary on the soundtrack recording that will be available on DVD and included in the press kit. It conveys, directly and emotionally, the uniqueness and beauty of this project.

Born in Pisa, Italy, Dario Marianelli studied in Florence and later moved to London to continue his studies and set up his current base. His scholarships led him to London's esteemed Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Bretton University College (in Germany), and the National Film and Television School, where he spent three years. His composition work was featured in television shows and stage productions, leading him to work with The BBC Symphony Orchestra as well as The Royal Shakespeare Company. Marianelli's film score compositions include The Brave One, V for Vendetta, and Pride & Prejudice, for which he received an Academy Award nomination in the category of Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score. Jean-Yves Thibaudet has been described as "brilliant" by The New York Times, and rightfully so. At age 5, he began his music studies in France. At 12, he would join the Paris Conservatory, going on to win the Premier Prix du Conservatoire at age 15. Three years later, he won the Young Concert Artists Adution in New York City. He was honored with the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the Republic of France in 2001; and the Premio Pegasus at the Spoleto Festival in South Carolina in 2003.
